The ORF is a longstanding customer of x-dream-media in the field of workflow automation. Each file-based workflow begins with the ingest of camera media, other storage media or Internet deliveries. At ORF this is done via a centralized ingest desk.

RTP is a OmniBus OPUS heavy user. This system acts as MAM and Trafic System. As part of the end-2-end business process it has need for high volume transocding and subtitle processing. By an increased volume of file delivered content and the move from SD to HD production a need for upgrading the original transcoder was caused. This was desired to happen without changes to the existing OmniBus OPUS. As consequence an API translation approach was selected.

Our customer operates a centralized VOD ingest and preparation facility for its various entities throughout Europe. Content gets delivered from various content partners via different file transportation methods to that facility. Here video, picture and metadata files are being aggregated and processed. Finally, the prepared VOD content packages are made available to the end users throughout Europe. x-dream-media's role within this project was implementing the end-2-end business process.

ORF uses Sony XDCAM HD cameras for daily reporting. After each use the storage media are ingested and then prepared for the next use. This is done by the staff of the central ingest desks. So far individual drives were operated manually. For an efficient design of the work processes a Sony XDJ-1000 Disk Library hardware was purchased. But unfortunately it has no user interface. It is a device which requires the integration into a workflow automation. This was created within this project and all relevant functions have been made available to the operators.
